Artwork Highlight

The corrugated metal roofs of the houses are nostalgic in their familiarity, a bygone remnant of when most of the population still lived in dilapidated zinc-roof houses. Koeh paints another cluster of attap houses as well, another variant commonly seen in the kampongs. Though those reminiscing about the past certainly do not romanticise nor necessarily desire a return to a time without the comforts of modern housing, a certain sense of melancholy still pervades these recollections.
